Make your own homemade canna-butter right in the comfort of your own kitchen! It’s easier than you think and is great for anyone who wants to make their own edibles and infusions at home. Canna-butter can be used in place of regular butter in most recipes and is a great way to get the benefits of cannabis for those who don’t prefer smoking. (Although it’s not recommended to entirely replace the regular butter with canna-butter in a recipe, please be mindful of your dosing and check out our dosing page for more information.)
Notes:
You will need to decarboxylate your cannabis prior to infusing your butter. Check out my decarboxylating page for information on doing this!
I recommend to labeling any infusions and ALWAYS keeping them away from children, pets, or un-expecting individuals. Please enjoy safely and responsibly!
Canna-Butter
Equipment
- Sous Vide or Crock Pot
- Quart sized mason jar with fitting lid.
- Cheesecloth
- Mesh Strainer
- Measuring Cup
- Optional: a silicone stick butter mold.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Butter
- 1/4 ounce Decarboxylated Cannabis Flower
Instructions
- Make sure your flower is decarbed before using. If you need a how-to check out my decarboxylating page!
- Put your butter into your glass jar and then add in your cannabis flower. Seal your jar.
- Add either a canning mat or a dish cloth to the bottom of a large stock pot or your crock-pot. This creates a buffer to protect your glass jar.
- Fill your pot with enough water to just almost cover your jar and heat to 180 degrees Farenheit using your sous vide, or by turning your crock-pot to high, use a thermometer to heat your water to 180 degrees and then turning it to low.
- Gently lower your sealed jar into the water and infuse for 4 hours, swirling gently every so often.
- After 4 hours remove from the water and strain your butter into a measuring cup with a mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth. Really scrape down your jar and gently squeeze your cheesecloths when finished straining. Transfer back into a clean jar, or silicone mold, seal and label. Your canna-butter is ready to use! Store in the fridge and use within 3 months.
